Miller Manufacturing Company was founded in 1941 by Barney Miller. We got our start manufacturing poultry feeding and watering products for both commercial and non-commercial farmers and ranchers. The non-commercial market, better know today as ‘backyard hobbyists’ is where Miller eventually focused its efforts. The Little Giant® brand that initially started as just feeding and watering poultry products has now expanded to other product categories including plastic and rubber buckets, tubs and feeders, incubation, stable supplies and pest control. These products have earned the reputation of being high quality and farm tough.
Until 1996, we were family owned and operated. At that time successful Minnesota Entrepreneur Dennis Frandsen of Frandsen Corporation purchased Miller. Frandsen Corporation is a holding company with a solid reputation of buying and running successful companies and allowing them to continue doing what made them successful.
In 2002, Miller Manufacturing acquired Hot-Shot Products Company, Inc. located in Savage, Minnesota. Hot-Shot® was also a family-owned and operated business that started in 1939, with a culture and customer base that was similar to Miller’s. The Hot-Shot® brand is the industry standard when it comes to electric livestock prods that assist in the movement and transportation of livestock. Hot-Shot® leads the prod market with the world’s largest selection.
In 2003, Miller Manufacturing introduced its Pet Lodge™ brand of pet products. Since then, Pet Lodge™ has grown to over 150 items in the areas of feeding and watering, containment and housing, bedding and clean-up products for pets and small animals.
In 2005, Miller Manufacturing consolidated three of its five facilities into a 290,000 square foot manufacturing and distributing center located in Glencoe, Minnesota. This new facility is now home to the Metal, Rubber and Hot-Shot® divisions of Miller. The 12,000 square foot distribution facility enables the company to keep its entire catalog of products available for immediate shipment to customers.
Today, hobby farmers and enthusiast of all types use hundreds of products manufactured by Miller.
